At that moment I felt like I had no other option but to risk everything. If the Supreme Court votes in favor of keeping DACA in place, I think that will be one of the happiest days of my whole life.
Eliana was born in Ecuador and came to the United States 17 years ago. She graduated from St. Joseph’s College and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration at Baruch College. She is a mother to two beautiful U.S. born children and is a first time homeowner in Long Island, New York. She has worked as a paralegal, providing crucial services to working class immigrants and now has stepped into her role as Lead Organizer at Make the Road New York. Eliana has been a dedicated organizer and advocate in her community, and a national spokesperson on behalf of immigrant youth like herself. She is serving as a plaintiff in a federal case, Batalla Vidal v. McAleenan, to block the Trump administration’s attempt to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program of which she is a beneficiary. Eliana has emerged as an important voice in both the local and national immigration conversation, she appeared in many national news outlets to share her experiences as a mother, student, and activist.
